Industry and Information Department: Glass industry with excess capacity will also be the problem

Industry and Information Department and Academy of Social Sciences Institute of Industrial Economics delivered 2009 report on China's industrial economic operation in summer on August 26. the report pointed out that the decline of our national companies had been stopped and the whole industry was running into the right direction, while the situation at home and abroad was complicated and grim. There was many prominent issues on irrational industrial structure, and excess capacity. Recovery of the foundation is not strong stabilizing.

The problem of excess capacity is very serious. Recently, flat glass production was 574 million weight boxes last year and for 19 consecutive years ranked No. 1. there are 203 glass production lines. Influenced by financial crisis, about 30 production lines were forced to stop production. However, in the new round of construction, some production lines had been set up. According to incomplete statistics, this year there are 120 production lines under construction. Once they are completed, the capacity will be excess again.
