194 lagged glass production lines in Shahe would be out of the way

Shahe City decided to use three years (2007-2009) to shut down 194 small glass production lines, eliminated 42.68 million weight cases and reduced So2 11,542 tons and COD 970 tons. Until now, the city shut down 183 lagged glass production lines and eliminated 40.26 million weight cases and reduced So2 10,980 tons and COD 917 tons.

Shahe City is named “Chinese Glass City”. In the peak, its capacity reached 1/3 of the whole national capacity. But the small size glass enterprises with high energy consumption, heavy pollution production methods had increased the pressure to the resources and the environment, seriously hampering the local economy's health and sustainable development.

In order to stop the bad situation, Shahe City employed experts to create a "Shahe City glass industrial development planning". At the same time with greatly developing hi-ed and various deep-processing energy-saving environmental glass, the government tried its best to eliminate the lagged glass production lines. At present, most eliminated lagged small size enterprises realized transformation smoothly.
