Yaohua Glass Factory Site was built up China first glass museum

In 1923, China and Belgium set up China's first large glass manufacturing enterprise----Yaohua Glass machine manufacturing Co., Ltd. at Qinhuangdao, Hebei province. The company opened the door to the development of China's glass industry and made Qinhuangdao become "The cradle of China's glass industry". The company's development history is not only the history of glass industry in Qinhuangdao, but also a microcosm of the development of China's glass industry.

In 2001, Yaohua Glass Factory relocated to a new place. In order to record this history, protect the Urban Context, display glass culture and develop tourism resource, Qinhuangdao Government decided to reserve parts of Yohua Gladd Factory site and to build China's first glass specialized museum on the site of Yaohua Glass Factory. Qinhuangdao Glass Museum Project is a Popular work in Qinhuangdao Glass History. The total construction area are 2882 square meters and total investment 22 million yuan.

Deputy Director of the preparation of Qinhuangdao Glass Museum, Guo Huiyu introduced that the glass museum was divided into four parts including the museum, temporary exhibition, entertainment service area, ancillary facilities district. The museum is a Public welfare Museum collecting collection, research, education, display as a whole. The display contents includes ancient glass and development, China's glass industry the cradle of Chinese modern glass industry, dazzling magical world of glass. The citizens not only can see different glass from various times and modern glass, but also can understand the ancient glass manufacturing technology and the development of the new China Glass Industry, as well as watch performances of Glass production traditional process.

The main project and outdoor environmental project of this museum has been finished in May. After then, the project has been in the exhibition internal design process. The cultural relics bureau has collected over 400 glass objects and glass production equipments from 20 glass enterprises and Glass Heritage Collection Unit in Beijing, Liaoning, Shandong and Qin City.

The Glass Museum will be completed at the end of December. At that time, the museum will be opened for free and end the history that China don' t have such specialized museum.
