Qingdao Jiaonan fully used hollow glass in the building

"If a 100㎡ house is installed with 40㎡ hollow glass, the energy can be saved 30%-50%.On this basis, every day it can save 2-3 KW. The promotion of hollow glass is the main work in low-carbon economy." Fu Yubo, Deputy-director of  Urban Construction Bureau in Jiaonao told the reporter.

At present, there are nearly 4000000 ㎡ buildings which is under the construction being installed with hollow glass.

Feng said, whether in winter or summer, windows are the main building heat exchange channel, which are accounted for 30% of heat energy consumption of buildings, even 50% in general building.

Practice has proved at home and abroad that it is the most economical and effective way to prevent the building from heat loss is to improve the windows' heat insulation.

Based on this understanding, Jiaonan city began to promote the implementation of the new national mandatory energy efficiency standards and ask new commercial buildings, commercial buildings, schools and other public buildings to use the hollow glass. Now, there are 3500000 ㎡ buildings using hollow glass and over 4000000 ㎡ buildings to use the hollow glass.

In addition to require the use of hollow glass, the government also have introduced a specific provision in Building materials and external warmth. Feng said, the implementation of existing energy efficiency standards for buildings is better than the standards in 1982.
