Emhart Glass: FleXinspect Progresses Forward

Post Time:Mar 02,2010Classify:Company NewsView:526

March/April 2010 — The FleXinspect product line has come a long way from its first days of conception. Designed to combine the inspection capabilities of multiple machines, the FleXinspect line promised unmatched flexibility and versatility for the glassmaker.

After months of hearing about this new FleXinspect, our manufacturing assembly team got to see it up close and personal. By the end of 2009, the first 9 production machines were built and delivered to a new customer’s facility. This was a triumphant moment for a manufacturing team accustomed to building Veritas systems (over 600 in the past few years.) Everyone rose to the challenge and without missing a beat worked their way through this new development and delivered the first FleXinspect products on time!

Now that the machines have left the building, the service group is stepping up to the plate–operating on a tight schedule to get the machines in place, powered up, commissioned, and ready for production. Everyone on-site is working together to ensure that when the first gobs drop, we will be ready!

Emhart Glass has designed a revolutionary product. This task could not have been completed without the expertise of our Emhart Glass Design Engineering Department.

The FleXinspect T is a rotary machine that is capable of providing all the necessary cold end inspections for a total inspection solution. The FleXinspect BC includes a 360-degree view of the container and wraparound lighting with additional patterned lighting for 100% sidewall inspection. Both units have mold correlation for improved process control.

The challenges we faced from concept through development and production to installation have been overcome, and everyone’s efforts will soon be rewarded when we help our customer deliver defect-free containers. Stay tuned for future updates as FleXinspect continues to gain momentum! <p>
