China received a letter from India's Ministry of Finance on Feb.25, Bureau of Indian safeguards decided to launch review special safeguard investigations on China's exported soda ash.
Applicant is Alkali Manufacturers Association of India (AMAI). The company thought that the referred product which had lower export price still caused harm or damage to domestic industries. As a result, AMAI asked for extending the tax period to China's soda products.
Before, Bureau of Indian Safeguards issued the final ruling on October 6, 2009, suggesting to impose a 20% added value duty on the reference products. After that, Indian Custom began to impose the duty on December 5 last year. The tax period is from April 20, 2009 to April 19, 2010.
Bureau of Indian Safeguards will launch the review special safeguard investigations about if extending the tax period or not. According to the requests, related sides should hand in the materials to Bureau of Indian Safeguards before March 15, 2010.
