China Glass Industry is developed by leaps and bounds, becoming the largest flat glass production country. The rapid development of glass processing has basically met the demand of building industry, automotive industry and other emerging industries. Flat glass and glass-process have become the indispensable and important materials industries to develop nation's economy and improving people's living standards.

In 2008, national flat glass production capacity was 650 million weight cases, output of 574 million weight cases, 50% of the worldwide output. Float glass production was 479 million weight boxes, 80% of the flat glass's production. In the first half of 2009, another new 13 production line began to operate, added capacity of 48.48 million weight cases.

In 2009, glass industry was low first and high second. The recovery performance of the second half was apparent. The export flat glass showed that situation that the mount was shrunk but the price was raised. The price was increased from 280.74 dollars/ton to 342.71 dollars /ton. As the same with the rising price, the international competitiveness was also improved. It is estimated that China will continue to maintain the status of big exporter.

Although the data of 2009 is not better than 2008, the market develop trend is very good. Some enterprises have gradually restored the market bullish, opening new production line.

China Glass, Zhejiang Glass, Lingyuanshiming Glass and other glass enterprise all have restarted some production line in the forth quarter. At the same time, in Sichuan, Chongqing, there were many glass companies which set up new glass production lines, including Taiwan Glass, Sorth Glass, Mingda Glass, etc.. Regional production capacity has more than 33 million weight boxes. The per capita share of glass is far above the national average.

Recently, National Science and Technology officially agreed Bangbu City to establish national glass new materials and high-tech industrial base. This action marked that glass-new material industry has been listed in the overall development plan of National Hi-Tech Industry. It is meaningful for Glass New Material Industry to improve the technology, add the product added value and promote the agglomeration development.
