Russ Huffer, chairman and CEO of Apogee Enterprises, will present an educational session titled "BIPV: Challenges and Opportunities for the Contract Glazier" on Thursday, April 15, 2010, from 11:10 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. as part of the opening day of Glass TEXpo 2010.
The session is designed to help attendees learn the benefits and challenges of building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) as it relates to the contract glazing industry. Apogee Enterprises has spent millions researching this new technology and how it fits into a curtainwall system.
Huffer will offer a no-nonsense look at BIPV and what he has learned after 20 years of research - and important issues of which the industry needs to be aware.
Huffer was elected Apogee chairman in June 1999, in addition to having been elected president and chief executive officer (CEO) in January 1998. He joined Apogee in 1986 as vice president and general manager of Viracon. In 1996, he was promoted to president of the Glass Technologies segment to further develop these glass coatings businesses into market leaders.
Glass TEXpo will be held April 15-16 at the El Tropicano Holiday Inn Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.
