Overview
Laminated glass is one kind of safety glass, which consists of two or more pieces of glass bonded between one or more pieces of plastic interlayer, usually polyvinyl butyral (PVB). The PVB is sandwiched by the pieces of glass which is passed through rollers to expel any air pockets and form the initial bond then heated to around 70 °C in a autoclave.
There is commonly float colored, coated, tempered or curved/bent laminated glass.
Advantages
Outstanding Impact Strength. The interlayer film has super high tensile strength due to its ultra high elasticity, which allows the laminated glass resist to high impact, and absorbs the energy of the impact.
Safety. Even when it’s broken, the interlayer continues to safeguard the building, cause the glass fragments remain firmly bonded to the plastic interlayer with little scatter
Sound reduction. Due to the properties of the plastic interlayer which helps by absorbing the sound which passes through the laminated glass, the laminated has proven to be an excellent resistance to noise and sound dampening.
UV control. UV-absorbing additives in the laminated glass can effectively prevent ultraviolet rays.
Application
Architectural material, eg. building template, window and door, curtain wall, elevator, roof, etc.
Bulletproof and explosion-proof glass for jewelry store, government and bank, etc.
For automobile, steamship, plane.
